LA CASA GUCCI (House of Gucci)

Cuando una película me gusta mucho, la reviso de forma constante a lo largo del tiempo. Pero para que eso ocurra, además de una corrección formal y artística, tiene que existir alguna conexión entre el largometraje y yo. A menudo, y sin posibilidad de explicar el motivo, se produce ese enlace mágico entre obra y espectador, agrandando así el disfrute del visionado y elevando la categoría del propio filme. Por el contrario, aunque a veces la propuesta sea impecable, la ambientación resulte exquisita y las interpretaciones gocen de un  nivel considerable, asisto a la proyección con frialdad y distancia. En esas ocasiones reconozco los méritos y valoro el esfuerzo, pero no se convierten en títulos que me acompañen de por vida, con las repeticiones y reincidencias propias de mis producciones cinematográficas favoritas.

“La Casa Gucci” presenta una dirección artística muy atrayente, excelentes actuaciones y una narración bien llevada. Por lo tanto, reúne logros evidentes. Consigue embriagar con su atmósfera de lujo, la sucesión de traiciones familiares y un reparto rebosante de estrellas. Sin embargo, el argumento me generó cierto desapego. Quizá se deba a que no me interese demasiado el mundo de la moda, con sus marcas y diseñadores, pero lo cierto es que el metraje me pareció largo y apenas logré conectar con la proyección. Pese a sus opciones legítimas y evidentes de cosechar numerosas nominaciones en los próximos certámenes, dudo que vuelva a verla en el futuro.

Con motivo del reciente estreno de “El último duelo”, ensalcé sobradamente en mi crítica la trayectoria de Ridley Scott como director. Dicha propuesta, guionizada y producida por Ben Affleck y Matt Damon, no me gustó. De hecho, creo que “La Casa Gucci” es mejor en bastantes aspectos, con unos personajes más trabajados, una producción más coherente y unas interpretaciones más acompasadas. Aun así, opino que el veteranísimo (y venerado por mí) cineasta británico muestra ya varios signos de agotamiento pero, aunque sus obras van perdiendo magnetismo y simbología, conserva todavía el rigor técnico y la habilidad narrativa que le caracterizan.  

Cuenta la historia de Maurizio Gucci, nieto del fundador de ese famoso imperio, desde su juventud hasta su asesinato en 1995 por encargo de su exmujer. El cúmulo de amores y traiciones dentro de la propia familia, junto al afán de reinventar una marca que parecía encasillada, se relatan durante dos horas y media a través de una notable fotografía, una música efectiva y un acertado reflejo de la ostentación.

Uno de los atractivos más relevantes radica en el equipo artístico, formado por estrellas consagradas y actores de inmenso talento, cuya lista de galardones multiplicaría la extensión de este texto. No obstante, más allá de los destellos que provoca el citado reparto, sus integrantes demuestran su valía, consolidan gracias a sus trabajos el resultado final y, pese a las extravagancias de algunos de los perfiles que aparecen en pantalla, todos resultan creíbles y dignos de aplauso.

En cabeza figura Adam Driver quien, con dos nominaciones a la estatuilla de Hollywood, ha demostrado su tremendo potencial y enorme capacidad de sugestión en títulos como “Paterson”, “Historia de un matrimonio” o “The Report”. No cabe imaginar opción más óptima para dar vida a Maurizio Gucci. Por su parte, la cantante Lady Gaga, tras convencer con su brillante intervención en la enésima versión de “Ha nacido una estrella”, despliega de nuevo una interpretación potente y rigurosa. El gran Al Pacino, el solvente Jeremy Irons y el camaleónico Jared Leto otrogan una cobertura excepcional a la pareja protagonista. Sólo entre Oscars y Globos de Oro, suman entre los tres diez premios y treinta y ocho nominaciones. Completan el elenco Jack Huston (“La gran estafa americana”), Salma Hayek (“Frida”) o Camille Cottin (“Aliados”, “Cuestión de sangre”).
